Silica Gel Bag — questions & answers
As a general rule, use roughly 1 gram of silica gel for every 30–40 cubic centimetres of sealed volume, adjusting upward for humid climates or long transit times. For a standard shipping carton, a 25 g or 50 g bag is common; for pharma bottles, 0.5 g to 2 g sachets are typical. Share your packaging dimensions with our team and we will recommend the exact grammage.
Yes. Our silica gel is non-toxic, odourless and chemically inert. For food applications we supply non-indicating white silica gel in food-grade non-woven pouches designed for non-direct contact inside sealed packaging. Silica gel bags carry a 'do not eat' warning as standard.
Yes. Once saturated, silica gel bags can be reactivated by heating them at approximately 110–120°C for 2–3 hours until the beads return to their dry state. Properly reactivated and stored in a sealed container, silica gel has an effectively indefinite service life.

Silica Gel Blue
At Aharnish Desiccant, we offer premium-quality Silica Gel Blue, a synthetic, amorphous form of silicon dioxide embedded with cobalt chloride as a moisture indicator. This self-indicating desiccant exhibits a distinct color change—appearing deep blue when dry and gradually turning pink as it absorbs moisture. Once the material is saturated, the pink hue indicates the need for regeneration or replacement.

Silica Gel White
At Aharnish Desiccant, we offer premium-grade Silica Gel White, a highly effective moisture-absorbing agent ideal for use in high-humidity environments, particularly above 50% relative humidity. This non-reactive, physically adsorptive desiccant draws in water vapor through its intricate network of internal pores, without undergoing any chemical changes or producing harmful by-products.

Silica Gel Orange
Aharnish Desiccant offers Silica Gel Orange, a high-performance, self-indicating desiccant known for its exceptional moisture-absorbing capacity. Infused with an organic indicator, Silica Gel Orange can absorb up to 40% of its weight in moisture, ensuring superior moisture control for a wide range of applications.
