Desiccants for Chemical & Petrochemical Applications

Precision drying and protection for moisture-sensitive chemicals and gases.

The moisture challenge

In chemical and petrochemical operations, moisture is both a product-quality issue and a process one. Hygroscopic chemicals cake and degrade, water contamination throws off reactions, and gases and solvents must often be dried to very low dew points before use. The right adsorbent, matched to the molecule, is critical.

Aharnish Desiccant supplies molecular sieve for precise gas and solvent drying, activated carbon for solvent recovery and odour control, and silica gel for the dry storage and shipment of moisture-sensitive chemicals in pouch and bulk formats.

FAQ

Chemical & Petrochemical desiccants — FAQ

Grade 3A is common for drying gases and polar solvents such as ethanol, 4A for general moisture removal, 5A for larger molecules and separations, and 13X for gas purification and CO2 removal. The correct grade depends on the molecules you need to adsorb or exclude.

Yes. In many process trains activated carbon removes odours, colour bodies and organic contaminants while molecular sieve performs the final deep drying, giving both purity and low moisture.
