Desiccants for Automotive & Aerospace Storage

Keep precision parts and instruments free of oxidation and condensation.

The moisture challenge

Automotive and aerospace components are precision-engineered and often high in value, which makes moisture damage especially costly. Bearings and machined surfaces rust, sealed instruments fog, electronics corrode, and stored assemblies degrade during long warehousing and transport cycles.

Aharnish Desiccant supplies indicating silica gel for enclosures and instrument packaging, high-capacity silica gel bags for component storage, and molecular sieve for sealed systems that demand the lowest possible humidity.

Automotive & Aerospace moisture control with Aharnish desiccants

Common moisture challenges

  • Oxidation of bearings and machined surfaces
  • Condensation inside sealed instruments and enclosures
  • Long storage and transit of high-value assemblies
  • Ultra-low humidity needs in sealed systems

How we help

  • Indicating gel for enclosure and instrument monitoring
  • Molecular sieve for sealed, low-humidity systems
  • High-capacity protection for stored assemblies
  • Custom sizes for component packaging
FAQ

Automotive & Aerospace desiccants — FAQ

Seal the parts with an appropriate quantity of silica gel to keep relative humidity low inside the packaging. For long-term or high-value storage, indicating silica gel lets you monitor protection at a glance, and vapour-barrier packaging further improves results.

Blue indicating silica gel is traditionally used in breathers and instrument enclosures because its blue-to-pink colour change gives a clear visual indication of remaining capacity. Cobalt-free orange silica gel is available where a non-cobalt indicator is preferred.
